(My) truth about drugs The truth is that even though many people do drugs to be "cool", there are also many of those who do it for _completely_ different reasons, and they should all be judged as individual cases. Some people do it out of curiosity. Some people do it to escape boredom. Some people do it to self-medicate psychological issues.
Many people can limit their drug-use to once or twice per month, which suits them perfectly well, and they'll never lapse into a serious addiction. Doing drugs is a hobby for them, a way to spend your time, a way to get energy or new ideas or views on things - or just help you deal with the blandness of everyday life. There's nothing wrong with a bit of pure chemical euphoria every now and then. Everything that is considered as drug abuse may not actually be abuse, but instead good, recreational use even though not supervised by a professional or accepted by the society.
Drugs can do many wonderful things for you - it's just that the possible downsides and hazards are too large to be accepted by the society or even by most individuals. Now don't get me wrong, I'm *NOT* encouraging anybody to use anything, but if you have to, then (as I mentioned earlier) know the stuff are taking, it's toxicity, the dosage, your source, whatever. Experiment in a safe environment where you can't hurt yourself (or anyone else). And on top of all, take care not to develop a serious addiction.
My guess that is in the (near) future many substances now considered as illegal drugs will be evaluated and studied for medicinal, psychopharmaceutical purposes. (And many well known "illegal drugs" such as amphetamine, morphine and other opiates and loads of other sedatives and stimulants already have their wide-spread and fully-accepted uses in the field of medicine. I've even heard that LSD's potential as a psychopharmaceutic prescription/therapy drug is being re-evaluated.)
Summa summarum: most drugs don't fit most people but _some_ drugs really do wonders for _some_ people. Drugs are not 100% evil.
